| I've never been to the west. in two weeks I'll visit salt lake city and see mountains for the first time in my life.
Painters never retire.
I'm very young in the art world, so young I'm barely even considered. I feel like the only thing waiting for me now is exposure.
I'm about to move to a house down the street, I like houses and new challenges.
I might be moving to New York or London in a little over a year.

The past seems greater than the future, though it's best to believe otherwise.

| So hey, it has recently come to my attention that Rob Clough of Sequart.com (which is currently down, unfortunately) has written a really nice review of Ophestios over at his blog.
Also, the charming and illustrious Brett Warnock of Top Shelf Productions has posted a drawing that myself, Nick and Penina collaborated on as a thank you to Brett for having lent us table space at TCAF a million billion years ago over at the Top Shelf blog. So that's fun too.

Oh man, so you should check out the above trailer for the hopefully upcoming animated short film The Missing Key. And then you should follow that up by checking out the series of teaser trailers for Jean-Pierre Jeunet's new film Micmacs A Tire-Larigot, which is looking to be a ridiculous cross between "Amelie" and "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels." And THEN you might even want to check out the super fun trailer for Black, a goofy-looking Blaxploitation action flick coming out in France very very shortly. Who says they don't make good movies anymore?
Been spending a lot of time abusing my library privileges lately, and catching up on a lot of cartoonists that I'd wanted to read more of in the past but for whatever reason simply hadn't had the time for before now. The works of Rutu Modam, Gabrielle Bell, and Naoki Urasawa have been particularly inspiring for me as of late. Been spending a lot of time as well trying to put aside a portion of each day towards doing some drawing from different random photo references I've got on hand. It's been really good for practicing figure/clothing references, and it's been a cool exercise as well in trying to, at least consciously, put aside some of my influences for a bit and try to better get in touch with my "natural" drawing style. | i really like it when i realize that there are some things i have that i cannot live without; it reminds me of the things i have accomplished, or the memories i have. there are photos i could not part with, or songs that are so particular to a period of my life that it would be difficult to imagine a life without them. thoughts of this nature often come to one when they are awake at 4am, ruffling through the thousands upon thousands of folders that one has on one's computer.
i have a lot i need to sort out and get done:
- buy one-way ticket to south korea for august 18th
- go to korean consulate and sort out e-2 visa
- order up korean won
- buy laptop case/sleeve
- buy khakis/"business casual" clothes
- buy new luggage
- go home
- continue re-watching lost
- hang out with friends/have fun
- slave away at the theatre for minimum wage/make money
i have some time off next week so i should be able to sort out the most important items on the list: plane ticket and visa. after that i think everything will just slide into place.
it's my own fault that i'm awake so late right now. curse the man who invented surfing the internet in bed. i can check my email, facebook and twitter all while lying down! it's amazing.
